About us in a few words:

GEHL DESIGN was established in 2018 by Ebbe Gehl.

Ebbe Gehl started as a cabinetmaker with Rud. Rasmussens Snedkerier in Copenhagen, completing his apprenticeship with a silver medal (highest award achievable) in 1963.

Graduated from Kunsthåndværkerskolen [College of Arts and Crafts] in 1966. Awarded the College’s bursary for Diligence & Skill.

Lecturer and co-founder of the Furniture Design Department at the College of Art, Edinburgh, 1967-70.

Established GENIFORM ApS in 1970. Gehl is the head designer for e.g., NAVER COLLECTION.

Ebbe Gehl has through the years received several awards and prizes.

Today - as partners, our first job is to understand the client’s vision and needs, not solely to present our own. We value direct communication with prototypes and presentations, as well as the occasional face-to-face meeting over a drink or a meal.

Our design is characterized by simplicity and functionality. With a simple and thoroughly developed design line, GEHL DESIGN create meaningful products for everyday life. In a fusion of new technologi and ideas, and skilled traditional cabinetmaking and craftsmanship, GEHL DESIGN is versatile in experience and knowhow. We create furniture in Danish design tradition, emphasizing material knowledge to make long-lasting and durable products

LECTURES & SPEAKS
The + 50 years of knowhow and experience as a cabinetmaker and designer has made EBBE GEHL an esteemed lecturer and speaker in many countries worldwide. Among many other: China, Vietnam, Thailand, U.S.A. England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark.

With the many years of experience in design and production, Ebbe Gehl is appointed by the Danish court of commerce as expert in copyright.

OTHER COOL STUFF
Besides developing contemporary and timeless design for manufacturers and end users GEHL DESIGN also participates in competitions and smaller innovating initiatives. We continuously strive to keep our learning curve steep, and explore and push the limits of material and form.

We curate art exhibitions, and illustrate books, brochures and magazines.

In addition to design, we provide consulting assistance in design communication. We also hold occasional workshops in illustration and watercolor drawing.
